InteliVoice is committed to transparent, lawful use of AI voice technology. This page explains how our platform discloses AI usage, handles call recordings, and complies with federal and state regulations.
The FCC confirmed in February 2024 that AI-generated voices are classified as "artificial voices" under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). InteliVoice is designed from the ground up to comply with this ruling.
Every call handled by an InteliVoice AI host begins with a mandatory disclosure. Callers are informed within the first 10 seconds that they are speaking with an AI assistant. This disclosure cannot be disabled or removed by account holders.
"Thank you for calling [Business Name]. You're speaking with [Host Name], an AI assistant. I'm here to help you today. This call may be recorded for quality assurance. How can I help you?"
Required by law: The AI identity and recording disclosures in this script are mandatory under TCPA and applicable state laws. InteliVoice enforces this script at the platform level - it is not optional.
Call recording laws vary by state. InteliVoice's default disclosure script is designed to obtain implied consent from callers who continue the conversation after the recording notice. However, account holders are responsible for understanding and complying with the recording laws in every state where their callers are located.
In most US states, only one party to the call needs to consent to recording. InteliVoice's recording disclosure satisfies this requirement by notifying the caller at the start of the call.
The following states require all parties to a call to consent to recording: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington.
Important: If your business receives calls from customers in any all-party consent state, InteliVoice's default disclosure is designed to satisfy this requirement. We recommend consulting a legal professional if you serve customers in these states to confirm your specific compliance posture.
InteliVoice is designed for inbound call handling - customers call your business number, and your AI host answers. Inbound call handling is generally exempt from TCPA's prior express consent requirements for outbound artificial voice calls.
Account holders who use InteliVoice for any outbound calling features (where available) are solely responsible for obtaining required prior express written consent from recipients before initiating calls.
Callers who interact with an InteliVoice AI host have the following rights regarding their data:
Callers should direct these requests to the business they called. Businesses using InteliVoice can manage and delete individual call records from their dashboard at any time.
By using InteliVoice, account holders agree that they are solely responsible for:
